Hi folks,

I've got my 84 AJ6 3.6 5 speed for sale but also wanted to let all know I have a 5 speed getrag, instrument cluster, and computer that I can sell with the car or separately ... in the event anyone may be thinking about getting away from the automatic. Not sure what my next Jag will be ... this XJ-S has been a blast but with moving ahead this year I need to get lean hence the car and parts are available.

Link to some pics and info.

Cheers,

Rob Thuss

I've been advised the getrag, which is unused and one of the spare gearboxes that was among the spear kits that was sent over with the test cars, should be worth at least $3500. I guess folks can get used gearboxes for less but who'd want to go through the cost and labor of putting in a used gearbox and the aftermarket kit gearboxes are significantly more costly and to my knowledge inferior to the getrag.

And in the event I sell the gearbox separately, then the price of the car drops to $15,000 so I suppose she's offered at that price. If anyone interested in the gearbox would need the instrument cluster and computer, I'd work with anyone on that. I don't know whether having those parts would help someone doing a conversion and you have to ask George or someone with more insight.

Cheers.

Hi Alan,

I'll contact you directly. Also wanted to mention to all that the xj-s 3.6 has pretty good fuel mileage in addition to being quicker and more nimble than the v12 cars, albeit giving up some smoothness but she feels a good bit more like a sports car. She's always averaged over 20 miles per gallon. 3.5ish rear end ... still with the 6 cylinder, 5 speed, and substantially lighter weight gas mileage works out to be pretty good.
