Hello All,
I decided to post this "thank you" here for several purposes:
1. To thank Steve Petry for his expert help.
2. To let those coming into the forums these days see this again where XJ8 related posts now reside.
3. To point out to newer users that they need to be certain to search the "Current Production" forum which was broken into five more specific forums when they're looking for information on XJ8 & later cars, since there's a ton of stuff there.

Technical Bulletin JTB00002 may describe a repair for your XJ8. If you don't have any access to Bulletins, post an email address and I will forward.

Would anyone know if this will fix a similar problem with a 2004 XJ8? Mine made a simialr sound shortly after I purchased it and the dealer simply swapped out the air shock. The noise came back this past summer but went away when it got colder.
