I have a 93 XJS and have an intermittent problem with the wipers.

After using the wipers they won't turn off. If I shut the car down and leave it set for an hour or so they stay stopped until I turn them on again. Intermittent function does not work also when they go into the "nonstop" mode.

Would it be the switch itself of the logic unit?

Any suggestions welcome.

Finally got around to working on wipers. It was the park switch. I soaked it and shot carb cleaner into it to clean the contact and WD40 on wiper bushings and switch. Works fine at all speeds now.

Al, the problem is most likely the park switch under the cover in the wiper motor. Jaguar never serviced it, but it can be replaced. It is a standard Omron microswitch that can be had at electronics stores. Remove the 4 screws on the gold motor cover and GENTLY, REPEAT GENTLY, pry upwards on the switch to remove it. I is not fastened by anything but the PLASTIC pins that go through the holes at opposite corners. If they break it won't be held in the proper position. Takes a little finesse, but it is an easy repair.

Good luck!
