Have a 1991 xjs 5.3L had low oil pressure had oil sensor replace still had problem the mec told me it was most likly the oil pump and said i would have to remove eng to replace it. Is there a way i can check to make sure it is the pump and is there any way that i can replace the pump with out taking the engine out Thank you for the help

Bob, what grade of motor oil are you using?
I would try 20w50 Castrol GTX before anything else.

It might be the gauge! Have someone do a pressure test with a test gauge.
Yeah, try to find out what the actual pressure is. The dashboard gauges are not always accurate.
Even then the V12s have very low pressure at idle after warming up...like 5 psi or so....so don't be alarmed. I think the warning light comes on at 3-4 psi.
