I need the schematics for the AJ-8700 am/fm/cassette deck in my 1989 XJ-S V12 coupe. I have called Alpine and Sam's Technical and they couldn't help.

Doug, you are a man after my own heart!

That first comment just tears me up on two levels, first that the young pups don't appreciate the value of the material, then that they WOULD so cavalierly discard it without a thought.

I'm on board with the second comment, too! I'm like you, my friend, keeper of the "old stuff", and many times I"m *that* person, the old timer with the old tool and methods. Just a few days ago I used an accelerator pump in an analogy with one of the pups here. I got the quizzical puppy dog look with the tilted head and had to explain the 'step on the throttle, the air responds instantly, the fuel lags and needs a squirt'; I'm sure you've had the conversation, too.

Sorry, didn't mean to hijack the thread........
Keep up the good work, Doug. Always see your DD salutation everywhere I go; boy, you do get around!

Cheers,

I suspect that anyone employed at Alpine today still had mother's milk drying on their lips when the AJ8700 came out (1987). I can envision old technical data/literature being tossed out with no more than a minor shrug.

OTOH, I can also envision somebody...someone old-timer over 40 years of age....knowing which dusty file cabinet the "old stuff" was kept. Finding *that* person won't be easy, either :-)

Cheers

Thanks for the United Radio tip. The AJ8700 doesn't come up in their system and they get their schematics from Alpine, who told me that they don't have them.

This outfit may blow you off too, but it is where we send Alpine radios to be repaired. We've used them several times since Jag quit supplying reman radios.

Not that mine is the final word but I've never seen radio schematics....internal schematics, that is....is any Jaguar tech/service literature.

If Alpine can't/won't help perhaps some older radio repair shops would have something?
