I have two Jaguars, a 1988 XJS V-12 convertible, and a 1971 XKE convetible. Both cars are sitting waiting for maintenance. I do not hav time to personally maintain them. I am looking for quailfied expertise to repair and maintain my cars. In addition, I have approximatley 30 other cars (Mercedes, Cadillacs, Buicks, and Lincolns)as well. Many of them are waiting for repairs and maintenance. The shop I have been using in Marietta, GA just gets further and further behind. I live on the Georgia / Alabama border. And, I have my own truck and trailer to take my cars to any shop within reason. Any suggestions are welcome. I am frustated to the point of selling them all. I can go to a museum just to look at cars, versus my gagage. Thank you all. This is still the best car club of all. I love this service!

Jack,

What would it take to get you to part with it? As I mentioned in my origianl reply to you in this thread, an XKE convertible is my favorite car in life. I can assure you that it would be well taken car of in my hands!

Wow, a true barn find. Don't recall you saying if it's a convertible or a coupe. You're smart not to attempt to start it until you check everything out. I'm not personally qualified to restore or repair it, but to use an old saying, what I can't do, I know someone who can. As I believe I mentioned previously, Monte has my 86 BMW csi stored at his shop. He starts it daily to pull it out of the garage. If you change your mind about selling it let me know. I would trust Monte to get it mechanically restored, depending on how much work it needs. I am still curious even though you don't want to sell it, is it a 12 cylinder? Convertible? How many miles are on the odo? Any original documentation?

Thank you Jay. I will give Monte a call. My 1971 XKE is a true barn find car. It is an excellent car that has literally been sitting in a horse barn since the mid 80's. It had so much dust on it, I initially was not sure what color it was. It does not appear to need anything. But, I do not want to even attempt to start it up without having all the fluids changed and all the systems checked. All I have done is had it towed to another shop where it has sat for several weeks with no attention paid to it. I appreciate your interest. But, I do not really want to sell it. I would rather find someone qualified to take care of it. Thank you so much for your help. This is such a great service for all of us.

Jack,
My mechanic is Upton's Imports. The shop number is 502-245-1535. Monte Upton is the owner. I advise that you deal directly with him. His brother Ron works with him. If you reach Ron ask to speak with Monte. Monte's cell number is 502-648-1020. If you contact him on his cell you can tell him I gave you that number and suggested that you call him.
I mistakenly said in my last post that I own and XJS. I own and XJR. You mentioned that you have and XKE that you're trying to decide what to do with and I was curious as to what it needs and how much it would take you to part with it?

jack,
An XKE convertible is my favorite car in life. Let me know what you need for the car if you want to get rid of it. I probably couldn't afford it or I would have one. I have an XJS I love. It looks great, but being a 99 it needs a little work. I have an import mechanic I've used here in Louisville KY for several years. He has a small shop and is pretty reasonable. But he's just getting started on Jags. Mine was one of his first. He always took care of my old BMW's. He's still storing my 86 635csi for me. If you're up this way and want to try him let me know. I'll call him about what you need or put you in touch with him so you can discuss directly. He's a good ole Ky boy who's been working on strictly imports for about 30 years.

Hey Art....notice that you have a '90 XJS convertible. After spending way too much money on old fast boats and only being able to enjoy them less than half the year I ran across a fairly nice looking '90 XJS convertible that I purchased. White with a blue top and interior. Needs a lot of TLC and I really have no clue about it's history. Had it tuned, new rotors/pads, etc. Belts good, runs cool, ie under normal. Any "heads up" that you would like to share? Has lots of miles, ie 100,000.
