how do you tell if the engine in a series 2 e type is original? the vin # is completely different from the # on the engine block, which is different from the cylinder head #. thanks

my name is neal and i am not a member yet. the build plate has engine # 7r13611-9 and that is what is on the motor so it is original. i will join soon

Wish you had a name--we tend to identify ourselves here. You can ask for a Heritage Certificate (found on this site in the Library) but it sounds like nothing you have matches. The engine should not match the ViN but it should match the engine number on the data plate. The cylinder head if stamped (you did not give enough info to determine if it should be or not) should match the engine number.
