My 1970 E type has just gone through a complete restoration. Unfortunately the paint job is inadequate. Although the prep was fine, the colors of the doors, hood and frame do not match properly. The restoration shop is pleading poverty and begging me to cover the cost of repainting the car. They are willing to remove and reinstall all the chrome and trim.

I have two questions:
1. Can anyone recommend a good paint shop in South Florida?
2. Given that the prep work is already done and the car will just need to be painted, what would be a reasonable cost for the painting, excluding materials? (estimated at about $600 for materials).

Hi Harvey,
I don't know how far South in Florida you are. I am in the Daytona Beach area and here we have an excellent shop. This shop has painted my Mini and De Tomaso Pantera, and will soon be doing the metal work restoration and paint on my 68FHC. I would not take any of my cars to anyone else. The shop is "The Bodywerks" tel: 386-672-2125. Owner is Mr. Tom Prescott.
One thing though, $600 in materials does not buy you too much good quality paint. Just my two cents.
