QUESTION: Does anyone know if a bra is available for this vehicle? Can this vehicle be towed? If towed on a tow-dolly, are the rear drive wheels towed off the or on the dolly?

Dave, are you familiar whether or not this cover would fit a 2001 Jaguar XK8. Have you had a good experience with it, did it fit properly and was it difficult to install....Thanks! ...George

George -

I forgot to answer the 2nd part of your post. Yes, the XK8 can be towed but......

1. Like any rear-wheel drive car it should be in neutral, the steering locked, and/or the back end off the ground. I recommend a flat-bed truck,

2. There is tow-eye that is a part of the toolkit that is often missing. It will fit either on the front end or the rear but BE CAREFUL and check it now. Jaguar only lists one part number for this and it is the 5/8" thread THAT DOES NOT FIT THE (2003) XK8. That series of XK requires a 3/4" eye. Jaguar wants $75 for a replacement but a parts guy gave me one from a pile of discards. He said they used them as tie-down anchors on the car carriers and tossed them when they unloaded.

When I judge XK8s - even Driven Class - I always have the entrant check their tool kit to make sure they have the proper eye. I learned this the hard way. (N0 deduction on Driven if missing ; just a warning.)

the tow trucks these days have a pair of arms , they circumnavigate each rear wheel and hoist them off the ground. with the steering fixed in straight ahead position they tow like that..no problem.

George -

I have a 2003 XK8 coupe that I purchased from Aristocrat Motors in Kansas City in March, 2007. I also bought a bra; the part number was C2S-4496 and the cost was $148.21 (Club member discount).

Since the XK8s are out of production your dealer may no longer stock the bras. If so, try Jaguar Classic Parts in the UK. They have original drawings and I have yet to stump them. They do not sell retail but will ship to an authorized supplier. If you can't get it through your dealer I suggest Dick Maury at Coventry west. Both are regular advertisers in Jaguar Journal.

By the way - this post would get better response under the XK8-XKR topic.
