1971 series 3 e-type. When negociating a curve in the road it seems that I must turn the steering wheel a bit before the front wheels react. Otherwise the steering works fine. Would this likely require an adjustment to the power steering rack damper to make the steering more responsive?

Steering play
With someone else turning the steering wheel it is possible to systematically check thru the steering until you fined the problem. But you can not drive the car until the problem is fixed. If you need to go to a repair shop, have it towed.
Good luck

Steering play
Mitch you need to have it looked at as it may be dangerous, something is loose and it is unlikely to be a simple adjustment!
Many thanks to George Camp for his help and advice. It turned out that the mounts for the rack to the frame had deteriorated so that the rack was loose enough to move. George called me and we walked through it. Tech support really is an assett Thanks, George.
