I am about to purchase a restoration guide for series 1 XKE and remember hearing at a recent concours event that Jaguar E-Type: 6 & 12 Cylinder Restoration Guide by Thomas Haddock was considered the most complete how to.

Any opinions out there? I couldn't find anything in our JCNA library!

Stephen,

Tom's book is well worth the money. It has, I believe, over 500 photos, and is a big help during your restoration process to look and see how a certain item is installed. It is not however a step by step guide on how to restore your car. That you have to figure out your self. Two good ways to do that is join a local Jaguar club. There are usally several E Type owners in those clubs to help you, or pose your question on this JCNA site.

To me the biggest value of Tom's guide is that it was done long enough ago that the pictures are for the most part of original and unmolested cars. This book did not start off to be a book but Ton's interest and records of the first 500 cars( outside latch cars) which goes back some 40years, kept expanding and after a number of years it became a book.
