i acquired a 1968 2 plus 2 automatic.while the interior is in good shape generally...it is missing the gear selector cover plate..or prndl plate..or cowl for the gear selector...depending upon what you call it..it is the plastic piece with the lettering on it for the gear positions. in any case would anyone know where i can get one? i have tried barrats..welch and several others..jag heaven...all to no avail. so i am looking for a good used one or a repro if someone makes them..thanks for any help on this small but ever so useful piece which is missing from my jag.

many thanks for the replies. i have found a cover plate..little rough but does fine..although i am still looking for a more pristine one. this car was sold to me as a driver...buyer beware...i have spent about $5000 making it a driver and still need to do some further care. it certainly is a different experience from my mga and tr3a..not that they haven't had money spent on them. quite a different drive ...all three of them.

Ralph I am sure Barrats has the cover for the series 3 (BD 38409) which is not exactly like the one you need (BD 28667) but will fill the hole and give a better look while you search for the correct one. If I remember correctly this same situation came up a few months ago and the cover plate is NOS everywhere. The only two places that I can think that I would try is Northwest Transmissions (they deal with only old Auto trans stuff) and John's Cars who does a lot of conversions of auto cars. Best of luck!
