Please help me: I have a 2004 xjr, the park break is engaged, and I am getting a park break fault indication. I would like to know how I can disengage the park break, I can't move the car. I tried pulling the fuse for the park break actuator, but the break is still on.
Thank You Jack

Jack,

My pleasure, and thank you for the kind words. Mighty glad you worked it out. Something tells me you are not exactly a rookie with a stable like that!! :-)

Cheers,

Steve; thanks for the advice, I tried disconnecting the battery but I did not leave it disconnected long enough. I left the battery disconnected for several hours, when I reconnected the battery the park break eventualy disengauged but as i suspected another problem arrose. I got a bonnet open fault, after driving about 1/2 hour all faults cleared.
I want to thank you for myself and all the other jag owners you have helped, your knowlage is invaluable to us all!

Unless there has been an outright failure of the park brake actuator, you can reset it by disconnecting the battery for several minutes, then turn the ignition on. Wait for the message center in the speedometer to display 'Press Foot Brake to Apply Park Brake' or something similar. Do that first, and then press the brake and Push the Park Brake Switch down. That should release the Park Brake.

Good luck!
