The fuel pump does not stop clicking when first turned on and gas pours out of the overflow pipe under the carbs. What is sticking to cause this? Thanks, Jim

XK 140 spoutting gas
James, this is a common proplem usually because the car has sat for a while causing the inlet valve to stick. Put a container under the leak spot, turn the ignition on and with a solid item (a wrench) gentley tap the top of that fuel reservoir it should stop overflowing, if it doesn't then you likely have a bad float that has filled with fuel and sunk. If so Install a new float.
Thanks William. The float does not. Have ordered a new one.
