Does any member have a Vehicle Care Handbook for a 1999 XJR (or equivalent)? On page(s) 40 - 46 there should be a fuse box diagram. My XJR
did not come with this handbook. I am looking for the diagram of what each fuse is for. The 15 volt fuse on the left row is burnt, and I don't know what it's for. I have several somewhat minor electrical problems with this car and I'm hoping this fuse may narrow them down. I've spent a good deal of time attempting to find a diagram online at various sites with no luck short of buying an expesive maintenance manual. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Also, does anybody have a suggestion for a good body shop in Louisville KY? Body is in good shape. Car has good drive-by appeal, but close inspection reveals multiple scratches and chips. Thinking a good spray over after some light sanding would help appearance.
Thanks to any who reply!

Thank you again George. As usual you are of great and most welcomed assistance. I will look into the avaiablility of the Cd(s) you mention.

Jay the period for your car is almost all CD at this point. I would suggest you order from Jaguar (your dealer) part numbers S ELEC CD 1 and S Tech CD 1.

Thanks. Perhaps I should invest in a manual. Can you suggest one that would best suit my particular issues? Will the club library have a manual that I could check out (if the library comes to fruition)?

Jay first these gars are very ground sensitive. The electrical chart shows dozens of ground points that must all be clean and tight. Second the bulbs MUST be the correct bulbs and although a cheap bulb will function it will cause a "Fail" message. Brake switches can cause a host of issues but they normally just fail--get someone to watch the lamps and see if they come on and also if they go off at release.

George,
Thanks for the insight. I had know idea. This is my first Jag and I've had it for about 6 months. Interesting that the blown fuse I described is for the AC clutch. AC works fine. Hope the clutch doesn't remain engaged constantly due to this blown fuse.
One problem I was hoping to fix with a fuse is the parking/driving lights (the dim lights within the bright light housing). Also, fog lights do not work. Front parking lights don't work but all blinkers do. Passenger side markers work on one side but not the other. All bulbs in these locations have been replaced with new ones to no avail.
Additional problems I'm having are repeated and intermittent Message Centre notifications. Namely, "Failsafe Engine Mode" and "Bulb Fail Rear". The engine failsafe can be reset by shutting down the car and restarting after a minute or so. So far I'm unable to descern if this notification is triggered by heavey acceleration or occurs when braking. The rear bulb fail confounds me. I believed it was for a license plate bulb that was out but the message repeated after replacement. Realized one of the bulbs in the third brake light was out. Replaced that and still get intermittent messages. If I release the brake pedal and apply it again the message does not re-eluminate for some time. The gentleman I purchase the car from told me I should replace the pedal brake light switch as he has heard that a faulty switch can cause various erroneous Message notifications. Have you heard this? Does the information I provide above give you any idea what could be causing these aggrevations. The car is beautiful and runs and drives very well. I have noticed a ticking or pssting sound that seems to be coming from the rear passenger side of the engine. It is only noticeable during heavey acceleration. Hoping that it may be an exhaust manifold leak rather than a valve. Any advise you can offer on that would be apprecaited as well.

Jay there are no fewer than 7 fuse boxes but from your description you are looking at the engine management box. There is only one 15 amp fuse where you state and that controls the AC clutch. All of that is if I understood your location. I can not make you a copy as Jaguar has given this to the JCNA techline for helping members but it is too new to get permission for reprint. You have fuse boxes in the trunk (boot) one on each side at the passengers seat heel board and several under the bonnet. I will try to help you but we need to get a lot more accurate on the issues you are having.

Thanks for your reply George,
I wasn't aware that there is more than one fuse box. The one I'm refering to is mounted over the driver's side fender, towards the front of the engine compartment. The particular fuse is a 15 amp that is in the eighth position down on the left row/stack of fuses, seventh fuse down (the first position is a blank, with no electrical socket). Could I talk you into mailing me a photocopy of the diagram that shows what each fuse is for? Also, if there is more than one fuse box, where is (are) the other one(s)?

Jay I do not have that book but do have all of the elec. charts for your car. Could you tell me which fuse box you are asking about? The charts are set up that way.
