Hi Newby here! Love my car but recently had some electrical problems. Had repair done by elec specialist locally and all lights, accessories worked fine. Put car in the garage for two days due to snowstorm and took it out last night and all lights work but the gauges are not moving and the radio does not work. On the display for the climate control there was an Er...with some beeps that I say upon starting the car. I checked the manual and it says a fault was detected in the climate control system. Not sure what that has to do with the radio though. Any one have any thoughts on this? Hoping just a fuse .. not sure what fuse either if so... thanks in advance...

I'll just add that the Alpine radios used in the 95-97 period are notoriously unreliable. I have a small but varied collection of them: used, assembled, disassembled, "rebuilt", totally dead, and partially alive.

The repair shop mentioned above has good service. They recently fixed up one of my used radios for $225. It took two tries but that's OK...they stood behind their work without question.

Anyhow....

What I'm driving (I always come to the point eventually) at is that the radio problem might be the radio itself and not related to any other electrical problems you are having.

Many owners, perhaps less tenacious but certainly more practical than me, quickly tire of throwing good money after bad and simply install a good aftermarket radio.

Cheers and good luck

DD

I thank you very much for responding... I can see that on further research that this may be the best solution. My electrical service person will take a look at the radio next week but he has already stated that he doesn't think he can help as it's not a wire problem. I will give serious thought to the repair and let you know how it goes!! Anyone in Massachusetts needing an electrical source think I have one to share.

Hi Dee,

Glad you got part of it fixed at least. The radio display though really can't be fixed in the field. We have used a place called United Radio Service, in East Syracuse, New York. Below is a link to their web site, and on there is a link to the repair form. We have used them a few times here at the dealership and have had good luck. They are an Alpine Repair Facility and the X300 radio is an Alpine unit.

Good luck!
