Hi all,
I just purchased a 1952 XK120 SE roadster from someone who had started restoration but could not go forward. I have a couple of questions:
1) Was an early (1952) Jaguar XK120 SE head or block painted any special color?
2) For judging, are points deducted if the car color is not the original color shown on Heritage certificate?
3) Do judges even take original color into consideration?
4) The car has louvered hood, done in the 1960's - is this a point deduction? If so, I need to locate an early hood - are they all the same?
My new XK120 (VIN# 672233, Body# F4216, Engine# WS993-8, Gearbox# JL10859) was shipped from the factory with white paint, red upholstery & fawn top & side curtains. If there is no deduction in judging I would like to paint it dove gray.
The car has SE stamped on the Cams, has 1" sway bar, etc. and the seller said it is an early SE model.

Someone who restores XK120' told me that on the "early" car, the kignition wires are routed from the back of the engine not from the front. Can you verify correctness?

Robert block black--head natural alu. As long as the color of the car is reasonably close to an original color there is not an issue--if it is fly yellow be prepared for a deduction! The bonnet will trigger a deduction. The bonnets are the same--that said be prepared to do some adjustment and fitting.Nice find!
Robert they did and the coil was mounted on the block above the dizzy. There is a vin break on this and wil confirm with a VIN
