Ive purchased an XK150 that is my first completely restored 'perfect' car. So I plan to show it next year, and then drive it well for the next 25+

The car was sold to me with a brand new number plate installed, along with a brand new "made in England" smaller plate.

In with the original manual, restoration pics, tools, etc. were the ORIGINAL number plate that came with the car (same numbers of course!), and original Made in England rectangle. These plates have fabulous patina, a real weathered 53 year old look. (kinda like me but they are better looking)

I think the original plates will look much better in place of the newly stamped ones.
Likewise, the owner found the original tool roll, in good shape, and still very usable - but not like the newly restored-looking Barretts replacement vinyl rolls. This original one has wear, some little rips, etc.

So my question is - do judges take points off for these original patina'd bits if they remain in the car?

Waht do owners here do when they restore these cars? Re-stamp a new plate or return the original to the engine compartment?

I wouldnt know how - nor really want to - restore/ repaint the numbers plate anyway.
And to me - the new ones look - well -- new. Too perfect. I like the funky way the original numbers are kinda off set and hand done.

Thanks for any insight!

kind regards
