From an obvious newby, despite the two E types I had in the 70's and 80's. There was no question what colour my previous two E types left the factory with but now I have another S1 FHC which I am not certain the original colour might have been. Is there a resource for original production information based on the VIN? Any help appreciated.

Dan, drop the center gauge panel. Unless the car has had a ground up restoration, you should see the original color.

Dan you can obtain the factory records here by going to the library and contacting the North American Archives. Note a JCNA member gets a good price break!
