Now that the Jaguar Journal is on the street for Jan/Feb.and being delivered you will find the latest service that JCNA is offering--a tool loan program. This is possible largely through the generous gift of factory service tools from Jaguar Cars. The service will go "LIVE" at some point during the AGM on March 10th. Folks this is no small collection but rather a huge collection of hundreds of Churchill, SPX, Zelenda, Lucas, Dunlop, OTC, and others. Please understand this program will be for JCNA MEMBERS ONLY and there will be absolutely no exceptions! While we do not have all tools we do have all of the ones that are commonly needed as well as many that are not. The oldest tool is a rear hub extractor for pre-war wire wheel cars and the remainder of the tools cover the period 1948-2003. We hope to continue to add to the collection and if you have an extra factory tool please consider a long term loan or gift of it to JCNA. Although we have a comprehensive set some tools are projected to be in high demand and a second or third copy would prevent waiting. Hopefully you will understand there are some required agreements and controls on this system as many of these tools are highly sought and some can not be replaced at any costs. There are no "common" hand tools or that sort of thing but simply what your dealer would have had to service your Jaguar. With this program it is hoped that many of the frustrating jobs will get easier for you and we can repair properly and keep our prized possessions running for many years to come. Please wait for your Jaguar Journal to arrive and read the program outline before posting questions but after you have done that feel free to ask away. There will be a new heading on the web site and you will be able to view all of the tools available as well as look through all of the tool catalogs thru the decades. Thanks.

William,
The Whitworth combo-wrenches I have are:1" x 7/8" ; 3/8" x 7/16" ; 1/4" x 5/16"; 3/16" x 2/8" ; & 1/16" x 3/16" . Since I still have two older British Cars -(Morgan & Jaguar), it may be wise to keep them -though I have not had the need for them in the past.

Before I try to sell them, I think I'll check with "My Main-Man Mechanic" in Columbia and see if He has any need for them.

As always, thanks Bill. And thanks for the tip about leaving the nut on flush with the ned of the axel. I have a buddy in Ojai that has the socket and hub puller.

Remember this 1950 modified Jaguar racer I had for a couple of weeks until I bought my silver 1953 XK120 OTC?

Bob, the nut is locked with a split pin. Usually the hardest thing to move is the splined hub, do you have the tool to remove it? BUT before you try removing it, it's important to loosen the nut until it is just flush with the end of the axle shaft, you can then fit the hub remover and it will not damage the threaded shaft. Call me if you need clarification.
Gerald, these tools are still used on British cars up through the 90.s All battery terminals were still whitworth until recently as were many fuel systems. what sizes are they, perhaps you could put them in the classified if you have no need for them!

Gerald thanks. It is guys like you that make all of this worth while. We are currently looking for factory service tools. While your tools would be useful tey have no ref. in the service catalogs so we would have to make up a stock number--and I am afraid they would be lost forever on the shelf. Please do not take this that it is not much appreciated--IT IS! We also have a carrier issue in that they are willing to cover us but we must use only factory approved tools. See you soon my friend!

George,
I have a partial set (5) of Wentworth (? sp.) combination wrenches -which I believe were once used on British cars -(way-back-when), but these were made in Germany, so probably not made for British cars. If usable - they are yours.(And will send size details)

Jerry

Robert go to a Harbor freight or similar and get a cheap socket--removing the nut will not be that hard and even their cheap sockets will hold up for that!

Steve great-need to ask is it a factory tool or a reproduction? Not that I would be picky but the deal with our carrier is that they are factory. Regardless it is guys like you that see the potential that made us start the program. Thank you.

Hi George, Along the lines of "tools" I want to remove 1952 XK120 rear wire wheel hubs to replace with a new pair.

The nut is larger than any socket I am able to buy in my local parts store. I think the nut measures 1-1/2" - can you confirm what size it is so I can try to find the correct socket somehere?

Does anyone know where I can buy the large socket needed?

Thanks in advance.
