Recently acquired 95% restored 71 XKE. Everything major works! Installed new windshield washer (W/W) tank. Struggling to install new windshield washer hose lines from tank to nozzles.

I have tried reaching behind dash, but my hands are too large. Does anyone have experience with this? Is there a tool. Does this require major dis-assembly?

All help and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Where is an alien when you need one. They are always dipicted in the movies with thin long arms, and thin hands with three fingers. I am sure they could be trained to be the best jag mechanics ever.

Hello William.

George Camp also said I need a person with long, thin arms and hands. Otherwise I need to remove the windshield, dash top, and windshield wiper linkage.

I gave this a lot of thought last evening. First, I am going to use a stiff wire through the cowling washer jet hole, and guide it through to the windshield wiper linkage opening. Then attach the W/W plastic line and draw it back through. Then attach the nozzle and over the connection with shrink tubing. After pressing the nozzle into place, gently heat the shrink tubing to make a the tight seal, in lieu of the proper attachment wing nuts.

Anyhow, it is worth a try, and a lot less invasive than removing the windshield, dash top, and W/W linkage.

Are you replacing the nozzles or mouldings? These are the more difficult tasks! There is no easy way but; remove the wiper drive gear, nuts and push the rack down into the inner dash this will give you a little more space, If you still can't get hour hands in, enlist the help of a, son/daughter/wife/housemaid etc.
