In the interest of not getting the concours folks riled up at my post below, I offer my sincere apologies up front.
I'm looking to upgrade my 89 XJS inboard rear brakes to easier maintenance outboard style.
I've heard that the 94~96 cars rear brake componentry will bolt up to the earlier rear. Trouble is there are not many 94~96 parts cars near me.
I'm looking to see if anyone has done such an upgrade, and what other models could be a potential donor of parts...
Thanks, in advance.

pete you should read the rules --in driven class the bonnet is NOT open!

As far as ease of maint. there is no difference--unless you need to remove the disc or calipers --not normal maint.

George,
My intent was certainly NOT to take a shot at anyone, but just to apologize for not keeping within perceived, (my own obviously), guidelines on keeping specific model years from crossing into that gray area where people add odd year parts to their cars.
I'm glad to hear that the area of my interest is not judged in a concours event. I only wish that extended to what is found under the bonnet!

My post above was initiated as I'm looking at a 1998 XJ8 parts car and need to know if I can "harvest" the parts outboard of the rear carrier to convert my car to the more modern and easy to maintain rear disc setup at the hub.
If you, or anyone reading this, can help me find the answer I would appreciate it.
Thank you.

Pete not sure why you had to take a shot at the purist--unless you do not know the rules! That part of the cars is not judged so there is no connect to your quest and the "concours" folk.
