Ok I am seriously into mustangs, now deciding to get a classier ride. Should my first used jaguar be an xj8 or s or x type. Looking for something 2000-2009 model, 4 dr. Don't know jack about Jaguars. If it were a stang I'd say Cobra or my Boss. What are the things to look out for?

Rick -
My vote is for a late model S-TYTPE w/4.2 V8. It's a very solid car, basically the Lincoln LS w/ upgraded engine and tranmission.
I have a 2000 model w/ over 110K mi and a 2001 w/ about the same mileage. When we bought the 2001, we drove it to the Indianapolis AGM and then to Santa Maria, CA for Western States, where it brought home trophies from Concours, Rally and Slalom within 6 months of purchase.
Incidentally, I'm also a Charter Member of the Mustang Club of Houston with a 1989 Fox-body GT Convt., and have a 1999 Grand National Gold from in the Daily Driver class. So, you have the recommendation from a fellow Mustanger.
Watch out for the usual problems noted in the Forum: chain tensioners, water pumps, etc.
Major repairs have been instrument panel replacement, batteries (check for the vent connection), window regulaters, headliner, etc. Upholstery not treated regularly with something like Leatherique my show cracks or wear.

Well, these are JAGUARS and made by FORD, so you fit in. My advice would be to buy a 4.2 litre sedan, they are fantastic and very reliable!
Thanks for the information.
