The flaps on my 1995 XJS 4.0 are hard and brittle. There seem to be no replacement shrouds out there and in any case replacement of the flaps would be simple if I can find a suitable material to make them from. Has anyone a recommendation?

Hi Guy's,
I made some awhile back for a V12 E Type , I used rubber sheet purchased from a lumber yard.. just a piece of the rubber they use on roofing for for valley protection or similar.... It is about a 1/16 th of an inc thick..

Ian,

I thought about replacing them on my 84 3.6 a few years ago. The engine just runs so cool even without the flaps I've never had an issue so I never got around to it. No idea how your later 4.0 handles heat, but I was going to hunt a sheet of rubber of comparable thickness, after talking to a couple guys about it.

Steve, thanks for the kind offer. But I assume they'd have age on them and I'd prefer to find a suitable material so I can replace with something equivalent to new that will last the longest time. I may come back to you if unsuccessful.
