,my 38 has 60 lbs of oil pressure. This seems too high. I changed the send unit which reads the same . What should the pressure be and how can one reduce it?
Thanks , Walt Kirby

Ok back to oil press

I finally got a real oil pres gage and found the oil pres to be 60 cold and 58/59 after 5 mins in the shop running at 70 deg cel.
This is normal for this jag.
So looks as though I will just go on about my travels and watch and see what transpires. After. An hr. or so of real use on the road.
Thanks for your interest.

Back to oil pres.

Oil press was at 40 (normal) We had engine out and did lots of clean up work which involved replacement of filter cleaning of oil pan internals and stuff like that. When engine was started for the first time after this work oil press gauge went up to 60 plus. And stays there at all temps and Ron
Ms.
I thought that possibly some change in press relief valve ie foreign MTV induced or something .
Just worrying .
Thanks for your input. This is one of the fun things about Jag ownership

Under what conditions is it 60? cold, high RPM etc. 60 is good at start up, but usually will drop when fully warm, The test figure is 40 psi at 3000rpm warm.
