When it comes time to replacing fasteners, it seems to be a dance to find something close to the orininals (mostly GKN on mine). Traditional parts suppliers tend to stay away from them and if you need a high tensile application, you will find it with modern coatings. Also the HEX flange type bolts that look vintage are hard to find (usually Allen if you want black oxyde coating). I face that battle about 4 times per year and end up settling for something questionable.

Are there good sources for original type fasteners out there that sell low quantities (retail)?

Thanks

I don't know your location, but there is an outstanding specialty nut/bolt/fastener supplier in Asheville, NC (USA). You can buy any quantity and grade (including Stainless Steel). They are Asheville Bolt and Screw. Web site is:
www.ashevillebolt.com. Phone number is: 828.253.2222 / 1.800.544.2658.
I have used them for restoring my 1968 XKE.
