My Mark IX has a condensor wired to the coil and one wired to the generator. I can not find these in the parts catalog or on shopping lists (XK's and SNG). Is it needed? Any thoughts as to where I can find replacements? (This is not the one in the distributor.)

I will try to attach a photo. The printing on the bracket is:
Smiths - Radio - Mobile - Ref - RMO 1A/TC - RC (Dashes indicate separate lines)
It is 2" long and 3/4" in diameter
Mine is still under restoration in my garage.

Hi Preston - I see you're from VA so are you the guy with the stunning blue and silver (?) Mk IX who was at Reston concours in September? I'm taking delivery of my sad Mk IX this weekend and I blame you entirely for inspiring me :-)
On the other hand, if you had the wrong pump and it was hanging on by cable ties, maybe it's not the same car?
The capacitors on these electrical items are pretty generic smoothing capacitors to cut down radio interference clicking and buzzing from anything that makes and breaks contact. You've the offer of a freebie but for future ref anything 12V in a car parts store that looks like it would fit your installation will probably work. They don't carry through current as such, threy just absorb spikes.

if you can read the number on the condenser, we can figure out what the value is.
either read the number or post a picture of it.
you can get a replacement from digikey, newark electronics, possibly radio shack,
or an electronics shop in your area. post the picture and i can probably just put one
in an envelope and send it to you. this was probably a dealer add on, so you shouldn't require an exact match of manufacturer, etc (or at least i wouldn't think so)

Thanks for all the good info. The car had a negative ground fuel pump, hanging on by cable ties! No condensers near fuel pumps. I replaced with correct fuel pump.
One condenser under the hood is bad - wire came out. What should I use as replacement, or should I bother replacing it. Radio is not an issue.

Preston most likely there are some on your fuel pumps also.

These were put on if you ordered the optional radio. If they are not bad, they should still be useable.
