I am restoring a 1952 XK120 roadster for champion class and my car came with a very nicely done "louvered" hood (bonnet). I cannot show the car without a massive point deduction so I wish to sell the hood or better yet "trade" it for a non-louvered hood in complete, good usable condition (with no damage or repairs needed).

My louvered hood has been bead blasted and there are no cracks or defects - it is ready for primer and paint.

It comes with the original latch plate and latch assembly located just under where the grill goes, so if you agree to make a trade, your hood must also include the latch plate and latch assembly.

As you may know, a louvered hood will make your XK120 drive cooler and consequently, make the cockpit cooler. If you have a spare hood to trade, use the "louvered" hood in the summer months or in between shows.

If you have a spare hood you would be willing to sell, please email me with a price. If you are located in California I can come over to pay and pick it up.

Please send a response to my personal email at Bob5837atroadrunner.com, or call my mobile phone in Loas Angeles (909) 267-0012.

I have additional pictures of the hood. If you want to see them, send me your email address.

Thanks,

Bob

JAM - the rear braces were probably removed when the louvers were put in. Any good metal guy could easily rebuild the races and install them back in the hood.

I have had almost no response from JCNA club members on selling me a non-louvered hood or trading for my my louvered hood, I will have the braces reinstalled so I can add a hood support rod. It's a very nice louvered hood.

Does anyone have or know of a beat-up XK120 hood that has aluminum where my louvers are and maybe intact rear an/or fron cross brace? I may be able to use a damaged hood to repair my hood.

I am looking for an used beat-up hood for around $300-$500.

I am located near Los Angeles.

Robert, Your nicely done bonnet may be from or fore an aluminium bodied car. It does not have the extra cross bracing that also serves as a mounting point for the hood support rod .I recall looking at one of the first 250 cars at a concorse and seeing how flimsy the hood was, Jaguar must have noticed also , I have neve never seen a steel bodied car without that crossbrace, I could be wrong.
