The trunk has been locked and it cannot be opened. The switch by the license plate appears to be unlocked but the lid remains unmoveable. Can anyone give me some ideas?

Are you in cold weather? If so, maybe the seal has frozen the trunk lid. I actually had to leave my 95 XJS one cold night as I could not get the doors to open until the next day when the sun warmed it up.

I don't think that is the problem, although it may be connected. I can hear the doors locking and unlocking but no sound from the trunk. The lever/latch moves freely when unlocked and not when locked, but the trunk never budges. It's possible there is something around the inside lock hold bar?
my 1995 doesn't have a valet switch. i thought 1994 was the last year
