Hi
My car has been stored more than 14 years when i bought it. it seems that the engine has head valve issue low compression on 2 cylinders. I was wondering if it does exist an oil or fuel additive I could use to try to clean? if it could help ?
and which oil you would recommande for XKE V12
your opinion?
Thanks
Gerard

Gerard, I have used Marvels as well in brit cars since 1963. It is good stuff. Try it and if does not make things better its is probably time for some rebuilding.
Best of luck and please let us know if the MMO worked for you.

to answer to your question , yes I squirted some oil in the spark plug holes to try to seal the riings to determine if it's vale and yes it's a vale issue
The engine would get 85 000 Milles (info from previous owner but not documented) I bought the car in Minnesota and the car was stored in very good condition tempered garage ....
Minnesota is pretty humide with 10 000 lake and close to the Mississippi :):) so may be it's the reason why ...
Garfield thanks for your suggestion

There is a product called "MARVEL MYSTERY OIL" that you can buy at most auto parts stores. It has been on the market for many years and is safe. Buy three quart cans.
Remove all the plugs and squirt a liberal amount in each cylinder---turning the engine over a couple of time to insure the oil gets down to the rings. Let the car sit for 4 or 5 days, then crank it again to remove any oil that may pool on the cylinder and could cause a HYD lock. Replace the plugs.
Put one quart in the gas tank and the other in the crankase. Drive the car for a couple of weeks (this will get any stuck rings and any other gummy crap out of the engine) then recheck your compression.
I used MMO in my aircraft for 13 years (one quart to every oil change) It purred like a kitten.........
Garfield No, I don't own stock in MMO.

Did you squirt some oil in the spark plug holes to try to seal the riings to determine that it is a valve problem or a ring prob before coming the the valve conclusion?

How many miles do you think were on the engine before it was parked. Also if you know why it was parked may help answer he question
Bruce
Gerard why contemplate an engine rebuild when at most you need a valve job? One of our sponsors does many of them--perhaps they even have some in stock for exchange. Look to Coventry West-ask for Dick!
