Hi has anyone had a short at the head lamp switch on a series 2? I have blown a fuse a few times, when I switch the headlamps on. I've checked the wiring before and after the switch and all looks fine.

Just curious to know if anyone has experienced this problem before I order another one?

Finally got back to the car, it was the fuse holder, it was not making good contact and creating very high resistance, I replaced it with the cleaned up old one and it works. So much for new parts, that are not made as well as the originals.
Thanks again for your everyone's assistance.

I had a problem with the 8-pin plug at the bonnett wiggling and making contact at the mounting. Age, vibration, wear and tear had loosened the plug enough so that it no longer made a good tight fit. Try checking it out, too.

Marco, take a close look at the fuse holder. Make sure the contacts are clean & tight. Dielectric grease on the fuse ends helps too. You can un plug the wire harness from the bonnet to eliminate any problems in the head light area. Could be the switch, but not a common problem. Does it matter if it's high or low beam?
