Hello. Need assistance in verifying a numbers matching car.1969 xke 2+2 I can't seem to find number on the engine. Ive been looking near oil filter mainly
On the top of the engine between the valve covers near the windshield is a number that says fb647, but where do I find serial number which should match I'd plate?

John if it is not there it is on the block above the oil filter housing. It should be there anyway for 1969. Clean well and look with a direct light source.

Thanks bob. Can't see it there. I cleaned the area well and no numbers appear. Any othe thoughts as to where to look. This is the original engine as far as we know, but want to verify with the I'd plate. Thanks

It should be on the flange right where the bell housing for the transmission attaches right behind the oil dipstick. if you are looking down at the hole the dipstick goes in its just to the right. or should be.
its partially visible on the right side of this picture on my 69. its behind the vacuum hose, but starts with 7R66...
