I have a/m 3.8 which I believe was originally in a series 1 E type
Can anyone determine what year e type
Or pint me in direction to research this number? I know the 9 is the compression

Curt, go to www.xkedata.com and browse the cars. It's by no means definitive, totally accurate or all-inclusive but it's a reasonable way of placing an E-type or parts in the overall scheme of things.

However, since the engines used in E-types were essentially the same as used in some other Jags in any given period, there's nothing mechanically special about them.

I am going to say Apr 1964.. at least what it "seems" like from the back of the huge Definitive book by Porter. (on a quick look)
