I have a 90 XJ-S and I read somewhere that there was a authorized pin stripe
( instead of the coach line ) the was allowed & placed above the door handle. It was an 1/8" double thin line that joined @ both ends and was a contrasting color to the body paint. Any information this would be great.

Thanks
Jim

Hello Guys, I had forgotten that my info came from the Judging guide, I apologise for stealing their work.
I was told by my local Jaguar guy that my car (1992) was among the cars that came over sans pin stripe. I was about to have one applied but that is what stopped me. I wanted one , but would rather have originality.

Michael.

Greg, Michael, and James the judging guide is helpful but please see the pin/coach line chart in chapter VI of the JCNA Concours rule book. It is the best effort by a lot of folks that is documentable.

Jim,

A great resource for is the XJ-S Judging Guide that covers this range of years. It can be found in the Concours section of this (JCNA) website.

The guide has photos and descriptions that I found to be extremely helpful for our '90 XJ-S convertible.

Hi Jim, This is what I have found out so far. 1987 through 1990 , Coach stripes,Pin stripes or Body side stripes were factory applied tape as a twin single color 1/8" over 1/4" with rounded cut to connecting piece on front pointed and squared ends 1/2" above the body side crease, with a break at the front wheel arch . It ran2" from the headlight chrome to within 1 inch of the tail light. H & E rear section was left open at the tail light end, unlike the factory which is closed.
