Long story short... Went to Dream Cruise and the JAGM Concours in Detroit this past weekend. Had a great time and met a bunch of wonderful people. Drove about 400 miles overall including about 200 yesterday without a hitch other than the A/C giving out (I'll start a new post for that). She runs perfectly cool whether in stop and go parades or 85mph on the highway. Parked it for the night and this morning my drip pan under the car was full of coolant. Header tank was dry. Just installed new radiator, header tank and all new front hoses. Any ideas?
Thanks
Mike

Coolant leak AFTER driving??
You may want to check your hose connections to ensure that the hoses are fully inserted. A connection that is just catching the lip will not leak when cold. Once heated up and pressure increases, the hose expands just enough to allow it to leak. Had this problem on a lower rad hose.

Coolant leak AFTER driving??
Thanks for all the input! We have the 13lb nos cap on it and it seems to run fine and stay cool. I will check for puking this afternoon. A/C high pressure line replaced and working fine. Took it out for Grand Rapids Metro Cruise last night. Wonderful!

Coolant leak AFTER driving??
GTJOEY1314, The car has factory A/C. I was thinking the same thing and discussed with it the mechanic. I had a NOS 13lb cap that I dropped off this am for install and testing. He found a leaking A/C hose that he's replacing today. I'm hoping to be "all good" to go tomorrow.
Thanks

Mike - you might want to add S3 to your Jag-Lovers signature as you just give the year over there, so I had to ask if it was S2 or S3 (not having seen your JCNA post at that time).

Mike, what pressure cap are you using......Did you have factory air or after market, stock caps are a lot lower than the a/c cap more towards 12/13 lbs.....
The pressure would make a big difference and push antifreeze out the overfill once the a/c has been running. You might be getting the cutoff switch FOR THE A/C turn on as well, if the pressure isn't right...
Good luck.

Coolant leak AFTER driving??
Many people who replace the radiator have a couple of reasons for leaking.
1. Hose clamps that loosen up.
2. Overfill
3. Most common - new and higher pressure radiator cap. That would put excess pressure on the engine water plugs (Freeze Plugs). It can easily make a small leak when hot or even blow out the plug.
Many times the hardest to get to is the one causing the problem because it is usually the one not installed correctly. So look for a water trail down the bottom of the engine block.

Long story even shorter - how about using one forum AFTER another Mike (if you don't get a good answer at the first), rather than two at the same time?
Maybe JCNA was first, if times shown here are EST, but my comments are on Jag-lovers.

The shop put dye in the water and found the water pump was the problem! Len Wheeler called it back a few post ago. Anyway a little more money down into the pit and she's back on the road! I love to drive the car and Fall colors in Michigan are second to none! No offense intended New England.
Cheers!
