I need to get these parts rechromed (if it's less than ordering from SNGB or others). Anyone had a recent experience with firms out there. I don't need "show" quality, but the next level below that.

Thanks.

Small world Tony.
I went to Ottawa Technical High School, and chased the girls from Imaculata High and Lisgar High. Fond memories.......1959

George and Phillip

Great info. I'll contact Hanlon Plating to discuss. I'm using Welsh, SNGB and XK's for a number of things, but haven't heard of Bill Tracy. More great info.

I got my Series 2 in '75 and my first experience with Welsh. Took out the right door backing up in a parking lot and drove from CIncinnatti to Steubenville and got a new "skin" from Welsh. Those weren't Internet days... just found an ad somewhere... and the Jag parts were all over the yard. More like a nice junk yard. They've done well since then.

As an aside for Phillip. Although I became a US citizen in 1975, I was born and brought up in Ottawa. Married my (American) high school (Lisgar) sweetheart whose Dad was the US Naval Attache to Canada. Thus the US connection.

Hi Tony;
Although I am from Canada, I too have used Hanlon plating. Excellent results on my XK120FHC, and my XK140FHC. Our other club members have also used them on XKE, Mk2, and all very satisfied. You will never beat their prices. Shipping by ground is cheap.
Go for it!

Tony - a bit outside of your neighborhood, but I've had work done here in Richmond, VA at Hanlon Plating (http://www.hanlonplating.com/) with excellent results. Not expensive, either. Front bumper plus "bumper-ettes" and two small rear bumpers for Triumph GT-6 - all for just a couple hundred dollars, iirc. They did a very nice job. I can't say if it was "concours" quality, but I and the people for whom I got this done, were VERY satisfied.

Just a thought.

Also, from the context of "fender vendor", I think William just meant the usual parts suppliers, e.g. Welsh Enterprises, Bill Tracy, SNG Barratt (probably the "big 3" in Jaguar Parts). Oh, and XKs Unltd is another. My Dad and I have had excellent service from Tracy and Welsh. Others, I'm sure, will have their own preferred supplier.

Good luck - hope to see pics of your car.

I'm in Naples, FL.

I subscribe to Hemmings but thought someone who had actual XKE work done recently, might be more informative.

Also, I'm too new at this to know what a "Fender Vender" is.

Regards.

Where are you located,? Check a magazine such as Hemmings but first look up the new price from some of the jag parts Fender Venders.
