Having just read the Gary Hagopian column in the last Jaguar Journal I would give a resounding YES to performance driving schools. Perhaps we should consider joinig /participating with the AUDI quattro club for some of the X-Type members. A fellow member my local club did this last year and had a great time. I had just gotten the X-Type and didn't have it broken in yet. I hope to do this event this year. I would volunteer to participate in the event. I would suggest Sears Point Raceway near San Francisco, in the wine country.

Putting together such an event requires a lot of time and planing,, along with financial commitement ( track rental )

You are right in suggesting joining another group to get started then when we get to a level of interest where it's feasible then Jaguar club event scan be done.

yesterday, I spent the day at Sebring with the E-type with a group that organizes such events at various Southeast tracks a few times a year. I had a blast... altogether did over 200 miles flat out on the 24 hour course. Ony Jaguar in the group among 911s, BMWs, Audis, Vettes and various Japanese cars...

Nothing beats driving our cars, and an E-type looks better roaring down the straight at Sebring at 100 mph than it does on a lawn...

I think that for now it woudl be a good way to start for clubs/region to set up an event around one of those already established track days / driving school. Give the members a taste of it, with little work and no risk. then when we get enough interest, we can start planning our own.

I'm not taht interested in driving some mustang on track :-) I prefer to drive my car... so I'd be far more interested in a Lime Rock type of event.

I think it would be worth looking into it to see how many would participate.

Week days are usually cheaper for tracks, I wonder maybe it it could be done, as an option on monday. After the concours, no excuse about dirtying the cars. Afterall, if I'm going to drive 5000 miles back and forth to the JCC I want to maximise the fun. I ain't driving 5000 miles to get on a tour bus for diner... :-) or to ride in an SUV :-)

Another tour of the scenic cournty side would be good on thursday for those not doing the swap meet. remember how much fun the drive to the Jack Daniel's distillery was... for those who didn't get stuck in the bus of course :-)
