After viewing the final concours standings for 2002, I was reminded of some discussion about there being no regional awards for concours driven classes. Why are we penalizing those who choose to experience the full enjoyment of thier Jaguars? We should at the very least admire and reward these folks for having the intestinal fortitude to drive there cars, sometimes great distances, to our events. Hell, as bad as the driving conditions are today, we ought to give them combat pay! We have the AGM coming up soon. Let's get this fixed.

Re.: Regional Awards for Driven Classes
I couldn't agree more. We have been showing our 1974 XJ6 in Driven for 2 years. Invariably we are lose by 100ths of a point to a car that is 10 or more years newer and we get nothing for all our hard work.
In addition to correcting this oversight I also think it is time to take a hard look at just how many cars are showing in each class nationwide. It may be time to combine classes where only one or two cars show and divide others where there are 30, 40 or more showing.
If nothing else, Driven cars should be regional champions too.

Re.: Regional Awards for Driven Classes
Mike, the procedure for getting this fixed is to write up a formal proposal, and submit it to Sec'y Steve Averill. He'll list it on the AGM agenda for consideration, and a delegate vote.

Re.: Regional Awards for Driven Classes
Right Pascal. Plus, it just might be enough of an incentive to get more people bringing out their cars and making multiple events.

Re.: Regional Awards for Driven Classes
I think that's more like it.... when you look at most classes and take out the 3 National winners, there are often little left with 2 scores to qualify.
Although if it would make members happy, why not... a dozen extra trophy a year isn't that bad for JCNA !
I agree, it should be considered at the AGM

Re.: Regional Awards for Driven Classes
Mike: I as well don't understand why there are no regional awards in Driven. In theory, the cars are judged to the same standards as Championship with the exception of the engine bay and boot, so it can't be that Driven is considered a lesser award not worthy of regional recognition. Perhaps there are not enough entries in Driven to justify both national and regional awards.
I have shown in both Driven and Championship and have always driven to the events. Round trip to San Antonio is about 500 miles and To Austin is about 400 miles. To steal a line from Cunard "Getting There Is Half The Fun".

Linda,
I understannd your frustration, and I am sure that the classes need to be scrutinized on a regular basis. But don't let a measley few hundreds of a point get you down. I'm sure you have a wonderful vehicle and you have a ball driving it. The greatest reward we have received from being involved in any show, whether it be a JCNA function or not, is all the wonderful folks we have met. I am worn out from being serious about all this car stuff. It's time to just have fun!
Drive and Enjoy,
Mike
