I have a pristine 89 v12 that has developed a sticking valve. Any recommendations? I'm located in Columbus, Ohio and have quotes for $5 - $7,500 for a valve job. Is there any other fix? Recommendations for mechanics? Is it worth having the work done? I'm considering selling before or after the repair depending.

Re.: Sticking Valve problem
sounds expensive. granted, the XJS has more plumbing to remove to get to the heads than on an E-type, but I had both heads rebuilt 2 years ago due to 3 bent valves and that cost me around $3k. ( 72 E-type V12)
Since the car is in good condition it is worth it, but find a good JAGUAR specialist with experience with the V12. The local club should be able to recommend one.

You probably have a dropped valve seat, a classic overheating effect. That cylinder will have 0 compression.
I got a good valve job on a 1984 XJS V-12 for $2100 in the Chicago area. Your prices are nuts.
The book says 41 hours. If you still have the car, perhaps the transportation is worth it.
