Proposed Concours Rules change of Chapt. III, Sect. 3-A-1

I applaud and would encourage strong support of the proposed change of the JCNA Concours Rules concerning Chapter III, Section 3-A-1 re: -"Driven Division Championship Eligibility in Consecutive Years". Although having been fortunate to receive First Place in the Driven Division D-1 in 2003, I personally have no intention to step up to the regular JCNA Champion Division competition. Even should one have a near-perfect car otherwise, retaining those elements that enhance the drivability of the car (i.e. Radial tires and an Alloy radiator) would preclude a competitive status in the Champion Division ûwith a maximum attainable score of 88.6!! Although my primary reason for having my car is for pride of ownership & recreational driving, I do greatly enjoy attending and entering the occasional JCNA Concours, -both for the friendly competitiveness, and (more importantly) as an inducement to continuously maintain and improve the originality of the appearance of the car. (An effort that is penalized by the current wording of this Rule.) Furthermore, with the present efforts to encourage greater participation in JCNA Concours events, I would hope that this proposed ôRules-Changeö be approved and made effective for the Current Year (2004), Otherwise, although I may attend my Local ClubÆs Concours and enter for "Display Only", it is doubtful that I will endeavor to attend other Regional shows. I suspect that I may also be expressing the sentiments of the other nine Driven Division First Place Winners
