let's print banners saying "giant sale.... 1st place trophies for everyone!" :-)
2390 concours scores over the past 3 years are over 95.0 out of 2502 total... how could we have 2390 first place winners out of 2502 entries...
I took a look at other thresholds... also out of 2502 total scores in 2001, 2002 and 2003
99.00 or over : 1804
99.90 or over : 690
100 : 137
I don't see the logic of this proposal! If anything, the bar for 1st or 2nd place should be raised to match the scores most entrants received... only cars with 99.90 or higher should receive a first place award... and 99.00 shoudl be the minimum for 2nd place awards...

Re.: Concours Achievement Point Proposal
sorry John.. I should have included a link to the specific proposal I was commenting on ... see below. it suggests awarding 1st place awards to ALL entrants with a score of 95 or higher... in other words... to 98% of all concours participants.!
doesn't make any sense.

Re.: Concours Achievement Point Proposal
Pascal:
If I understand what you are saying are not those numbers a little misleading? Scoring over 95.0 is no guarantee of finishing in first place. Looking at the final standings for 2003 an average score of 98.93667 (high probability of at least three scores over 95.0) only got that participant to 8th place in C-16.
Just doing some quick math for 2003 shows 50 concours with the potential to award 9 firsts in Driven and 17 in Championship. That comes out to potentially 1,300 first place awards each year. Actual numbers are less than that since not every concours has entries in every class.

Re.: Concours Achievement Point Proposal
I have said for quite some time now, the minimum scores to be awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in Concours should be raised quite some. 99 for 1st 98 for 2nd, and 97 for 3rd.
