Congratulations to the Chairman and the Jaguar Clubs Rules Committee.
The successful passage of the new concurs classifications should certainly do much to lessen the competition in several classes, reduce participation, reduce attendance and make it considerably easier for those fewer cars remaining to win National Points.
As for those cars that are now excluded from the ôPurity Classesö and been relegated to an obscure ôNonentityö class, take heart, for some dark clouds do have a silver lining.
I took an hour or so, did a bit of calculating of the expenses for going to the average concours. Figure each concours will take three days, first day driving, maybe 250 miles (at 15 mpg x $150 per gallon equals approx $25.00 fuel expense), two meals (at $6.50each equals $13.00)) for two ($13.00 x 2 equals $26.00, tips not included) and a hotel room for two ($65.00) for a conservative total of $116.00 for the day. Second day at the concours, full registration of $150.00 (not including any added activities or goodies), breakfast for two at $7.95, ($7.95 x 2 equals $15.90), lunch for two at $7.95 ($7.95 x 2 equals $15.90) ($15.90 x 2 equals $31.80 for the day, again tips not included) for a conservative total of $181.80 for the day. For the return trip home, again, itÆs two meals for two for a total of $ 26.00 (tips not included) and a fuel expense of another $25.00, for a dayÆs total of $51.00. Now a most conservative total for this three day/two night weekend is $348.80. In 2003 I attended at least six concours, (three were five day/four night trips, but letÆs keep it simple) so (6 concours x $348.80) for a very conservative grand total of $2,092.80.
For $2,092.80 I could have up graded and completely re-built my cars air conditioning system and completed the interior re-do. Perhaps they are trying to tell us that, the owners of cars not quite ôPureö enough might do better to just stay home and spend the money on their cars. As for the ôsilver liningö, there is an ever growing number of ôAll Britishö car shows all across the US that welcome and appreciate any British Marque Car
even if their outward appearance is a bit different. Think about it.

Don I will be breif and do not wish an exchange. As I told you before I was on your side from the technical aspects of your DS 420 but understood that from a club standpoint that it just did not fit into the current class structure. It is hard enough to get quality judging in the field withought throwing in a ringer. There is nothing wrong with your car and was not singled out. It is still included in the special division and this division was not designed for "nonenity". I will speak for myself as part of the JCRC that you continue to select us as your target. I encouraged you well before the AGM to defend your position. As Pascal stated if you could not be there there were ways for this to be done proxy. As he further stated this is the way it is done. Your wrath should now be more accurately aimed at all of the deligated who voted for this change. I assure you, although I was not at this AGM, they voted the way they felt of their club wanted. If the JCRC had tried to sway the vote(which was not done) it would have been received as poor form. I wish you happy motoring also and challenge you to prepare a guide for DS 420s for JCNA. It would allow education of judges and possibly change the status quo. To continue to attack the overcompensated JCRC comes across as bitterness.

John if you contadt the Sec. Steve Averil (sp) he may have notes if a vote was counted (roll call if you will) if not they follow parl. rules of yea ney and record passed or failed. Close items are recorded but not published.

bottom line is that nobody objected to your Daimler model being moved to the new division. Nobody proposed an amendment.
on the other hand, amendment were proposed and passed not to consolidate classes and to allow tinted windows in driven. this is the way it works...
A Proposal to split XJS class was also proposed and passed, I believe against the recomendation of the JCRC.
This is the way the system works... it works for the members, it is not a bunch of rules decided by a handful.
Why didn't you submit a proposal to keep your daimler model in the C division or if you couldn't attend, have your club representative propose it and support it on the floor? Since you feel so strongly about this, you should do that next year.
but I don't think the sarcasm of your post is going to be beneficial...

Prior to the JCRC proposals coming on agenda, an agenda item requiring a 2/3rds majority to implement any JCNA competion (concours, slalum, rally) rule change in the year of passage was passed. All JCRC proposals passed and then went for the 2/3rd majority vote, which they all recieved. As I recall, JCRC did not take a stand on the proposal to split the XJS class, as the issue came up too late in the year for us to consider. This proposal passed and was referred to JCRC to determine where the split should be. We are actively working on this issue and we are seeking the opinions of XJS Concours participants.
