Two questions regarding Series II seat belts:

1. The pieces attached to the seat belt ends that bolt to the body. Are they black or chrome or something else. Mine have black paint under the area covered by the belt webbing so I think black is correct. Looking for confirmation or correction.

2. Same question for the mounting bolts. I know the two that attach the front shoulder strap under the rear side flipper windows are chrome plated. How about the others? Black or chrome or something else?

Steve: Not the buckle ends. I am referring to the metal ends that bolt to the car body. Mine are not chrome plated, they are plain steel. Under the portion normally covered by the webbing, where the webbing loopes through the bracket, the metal is painted simiglass black. There is no way that portion of the metal bracket could have been painted after the seatbelts were assembled. The belts in the car are the original magnetic latch Kangol belts. Same for the special bolts that attach the seat belts to the body. unplated steel with evidence of black paint, except for the two bolts that secure the shoulder harness to the body. Those two bolts are chrome plated.

Attached is a picture of one of the brackets. I have painted them simigloss black since I believe that is the correct finish. The seat belt webbing goes through the oblong slot. The area I have I have noted is the area that had "original black paint on it.

John,
THBOMK these items are both chrome plated. Are you saying that someone painted over the chrome seat belt ends? That seems strange to me. I will do further research on these items.
