Hello everyone,

I am a brand new owner of an e-type (some dreams are longer to realise than others). I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good book about how to care and drive my new e-type. It's a series 3 drophead from 1971 manual v12.

It does not need much restoration so I do not need a book about restoring but day to day maintenance and tips on how to drive and what to do would be great.

Thanks.

oops... Good one.. Forgot that they never did a v-12 book... I suppose for the really weird stuff, He could also check out Kirby Palms V-12 book for the XJs... You can download this online. But BEWARE, If you try to print this thing it about 800 pages.. A fantastic book with tons of info and should be published. Mechanically it might help the new V-12 owner. I have it saved on my computer and still look at it time to time

Jason,

Bentley's is for the 6 cylinder E-types. The Ser. III cars are not covered. He can simply pick up the official repair manual. They are readily available. BTW, the Ser. III manual is much better than the old Ser. I and II manuals. More detail, illustrations and specification information.

Drive it like you STOLE it... ;-) Welcome to club, tons have been written about E-types. I'd start with the typical stuff... Owners manuals, Bentley manuals, and historical stuff. Good luck!

Paul,

Welcome to the Ser. III ownership club. And hopefully, welcome to JCNA. One of the best ways to get information about enjoying your car is through membership and participation in your local JCNA affiliate club. You'll learn more from the people in the club than you will from a book.

That said, there are several good books out there about the Ser. III cars. The best one to look at for information on care and maintenance is the office Jaguar Repair Operations Manual or shop manual for the car. There is an entire section in that book on how to maintain the car, along with specs, recommended service intervals, etc. You should pick up the parts manual as well, as it has lots of "exploded" pictures of parts of the car, showing how things go together and what parts should be in each assembly. Also, the official owners manual will tell you how most things in the car are supposed to operate.

The manuals and other books can be found on many websites. The easiest place is right here on JCNA.com, in the JCNA Shoppe. You can find them on Amazon.com or books4cars.com, to name a couple. You can also find them sometimes on Ebay. NAYYY, etc.

Best of luck with the new car. And if you have questions as you go along, don't be afraid to post them here. As we say, there are no stupid questions, only stupid answers.
