To Pascal and Steve who responded to my earlier posting and others who may be interested. My dealer, Rusnak of Pasadena wants $2850 to extend the Special Edition warranty for two years. If I don't get it, then I will have work done by an independant. They charge 1/3 to 1/2 less than a dealer. So my compasrison is independant mechanic cost vs. $2800. Plus Rusnak wants to do an inspection and oil change, about $2-300 more. Also the up front payment vs. paying out over time as needed is a factor (there is probably a time payment program at additional cost). How can I find out if I have the vulnerable liners. To Larry Cohen regarding your question on buying an extended warranty or not. If it only costs you $2,800 to extend your warranty, I would jump on it!! I have been quoted upwards of $4,000. But, it also depends what model and Year Jag you have? After 2000 model year, reliability has been much better. I have a 1998 XJ-8, which I kept up very well, but it has cost me a lot more than $2,800 in order to keep it up to pristine condition.
