I am looking at a 1967, Series 1, 4.2, E-Type. On the under body, just under the front air intake and slightly to the left of center there is a small rectangular hole. Is this normal? This is in addition to the two circular holes further back under the front of the body.

Ed,

Question on the holes under the bonnet

The small rectangular hole with rounded ends is for the link rod for the tilting front number plate holder which was standard for this car. The rod connects to the ear on the front space frame supporting the bonnet and tilts the number plate when the bonnet is raised so that it doesn't contact the ground. The other two about 1-1/4" holes further back are for drainage.
