PROBLEM WITH 1995 XJS CONVERTIBLE CAR KILLING @ STOPS ONLY 45,000 MILES NO ONE CAN FIX NOT EVEN DEALER. THE CAR IS IN TIP TOP CONDITION 2 DIFFERENT SHOPS HAVE TESETED IT FOR EVERYTHING NON ONE CAN FIND PROBLEM. PLEASE HELP.

I'm guessing you mean it stalls at traffic lights etc. I have had a couple of xjs's that did this, a 3.6 and a 5.3. It seems to be connected to the fuel cut-off system.

It's not a very elegant solution, but I cured the problem by adjusting the throttle stops so that the butterfly(s) is/are open very slightly. It gives a marginally faster idle and will burn more fuel, but stalling in certain circumstances is dangerous.

If this doesn't work, borrow another ECU and see if the problem disapears. If that doesn't cure it, suspect an ignition amp.
