My luggage compartment lid has always not stayed up.
Barratt's recently had a special on new springs. So I bought a set. How do I install them?

If you are not mechanically inclined or don't have good workshop with a vise and tools, I'd let a Jag shop do it. Part of the PITA is re-aligning the boot lid. Make sure you keep up with any shims that are on the hinge, and exactly where they went. Also, on the springs, you should have 4 that are shiny (as if stainless steel), and the rest, a brownish color. Make sure the shiny one(s) goes on first and last with the brown in-between.

Check the archives for the E-type list on www.jag-lovers.org. There has been extensive discussion there about installing those springs. As George suggested, they are a PITA to put in and you must be careful to avoid injury while doing it.
