My fuel gauge constantly reads full on my 66 ots. I have replaced the sender and the gauge and the tank. When I take the sender out and move it up and down, the gauge responds as it should. As soon as I put the sender back in the tank and tighten the nuts, it reads full, no matter how much fuel is in the tank. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

thanks

david

So to be clear on this, does the fuel tank have to electrically isolated from the body? That may be the problem then. The gauge started reading full after we replaced the tank.

Your fuel gauge works on earth with resistance. You do not mention if the low fuel lamp is working correctly or not. You need to check for an earth short either from your fuel tank to the body (did you use the correct hardware?) or a defective unit (sending). I know you replaced it but that may mean nothing.
