The rotor in my Lucas 11AC alternator is shot, and I need to find a replacement for the alternator. I have contacted Welsh and Terry's, but would be interested in learning of aftermarket replcaements/substitutes for this piece as well. My E-type is no longer original, and I would be okay with any part that just allows me to keep driving this car.
Any help, greatly appreiciated.

If your alternator is reverse mounted (pulley faces driver), there are two good swaps (Nippondenso,Bosch) documented on my website:

The Bosch would work in the forward mounted position, without need for a special fan. It's my current favorite.
In truth, anything alternator that you can make fit you can make work. Drop me a note offline if you need help with a swap.
BTW, your 11AC alternator is listed at www.rockauto.com for about $50. I'm not sure if the price is real, but it's worth a shot. NAYYY.
Kenneth, It's hard to beat the dependability of Delco internal regulated
alternators. Just ask for an alternator for a late 70's chevrolet. These
can be had cheaply at your local discount auto store. (Carquest, etc...)
The big post goes to your battery. (big wire) The alternator housing will have a hole for a connector in it. Inside there will be two spades that are parallel to each other but perpendicular to the rotor shaft. #1 should be supplied with juice when the switch is on. The other spade can
be connected to the big post. (hot all the time) Put your pulley from
